This course introduces the principles 和 practices of effective written communication. This course requires students to analyze discourse communities, execute a well-designed academic research project, apply reading strategies to academic texts, 和 use texts as models for writing.  Analyzing discourse communities involves identifying how communication conventions change in different contexts.  Designing 和 executing an academic research project involves formulating research questions, conducting primary 和/or secondary research, synthesizing 的想法 从 multiple sources, discussing findings, 和 presenting the results in APA format.  Applying reading strategies to academic texts involves using a process for reading, identifying text features, evaluating sources, 和 organizing reading notes.  Using texts as models for writing involves analyzing 和 imitating the scope, 结构, 方法, 证据的使用, 和 tone common to academic writing.

This course provides students with basic knowledge of human 营养 和 related disorders. The course will focus on 结构, role, function, 和 digestion of nutrients.

This course will examine the influence of technological development on American society. Emphasis will be placed on analyzing political, 道德, 宗教, 社会, 和 intellectual implications of technology. Topics may include technologies related to: energy; environmental degradation; human population 增长, warfare 和 law enforcement; personal privacy; artificial intelligence; medicine 和 bio-genetic engineering.

This course presents the basic concepts of chemistry. This course includes a practical component.
